What a find! The special kind of discovery where you just stumble across it and could very well have driven straight past. A classic case of ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’. This very basic restaurant serves up the most delicious fish and seafood at a very reasonable price.

We were actually driving to Seef Mall to eat lunch there when we were stuck in traffic on Budaiya Highway. As we both looked over the road we saw Fish House and decided to give it a go. So glad we did!

We ordered a whole grilled sea bass, chargrilled shrimp and machboos rice. The fish was huge, very fresh and had a delicious masala over it which I mixed with the rice and hubbie used to dip the breads in. The prawns were delicious and were devoured by our 8 year old with a plate of fries. I have to say that the rice was really very good. I’m super fussy about rice and this was exquisite.

We were charged a total of 18bd approximately £36. Very reasonable given the quality and size of the fish and the shrimp.

For those who aren’t fishy fans there are meaty choices on the menu. We didn’t try them but I’m sure they would also be delicious. You kind of need to know your way around a fish to eat here as the fish is cooked and served whole but that just adds to the charm for me!

I wouldn’t hesitate in recommending the Fish House. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed!
